Giving the gift of gratitude and pizza to healthcare heroes

With working long hours, and often double shifts, our health care heroes don’t always have the time to grab a decent meal to keep them properly fuelled. To show our thanks, Share Gratitude have partnered with our mates at @rideonpizzeria in campaigning for Sydney’s help to gift fresh pizzas to the incredible staff at Royal North Shore Hospital.

This is Sydney’s story of gratitude for the staff at Royal North Shore Hospital for their hard work and dedication to keeping their community healthy.

From the 6th November until the 20th, we’ve been paying it forward with pizza! For every message of gratitude our customers post on ShareGratitude.com, Ride On Pizzeria donated a delicious meal to these amazing hospital workers. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

This year has been tough on so many different industries, and hospitality had taken a huge hit. If 2020 has taught us anything, it’s that supporting small businesses and shopping local is so important when it comes to keeping our economy and communities afloat. By taking part in our campaign with Ride On Pizzeria, we gave the public the opportunity to support this cult Sydney favourite as well as providing a physical token of gratitude to some very important local heroes.  The project was simple: for every post of gratitude on sharegratitude.com with the tag ‘Ride on Pizzeria’, we donated a pizza to the wonderful staff at RNSH.

We caught up with Giovanni, owner of @rideonpizzeria to learn a little about his business came to be. Giovanni told us that he and his brothers have combined the passion for motorcycles and the hospitality industry where they both have had many years of experience working in different countries. Giovanni was the Bar Manager at “The Cidery Bar and Kitchen” for about 5 years, while racing in the Australian Championship, then decided to start Ride On Pizzeria in 2017 and build to be self-managed and have more opportunity to ride!

“Riding is all I wanted to do from a very young age, unfortunately throughout the years it was not possible to undertake a racing career due to lack of funds and time”. So “Ride on” came alive, we now take part in many riding days of our own, social rides, ride days and other events.

Giovanni is passionate about his community and the people around him. “We are part of it, our customers are part of it and our brand is part of it”. He believes that “Ride On has had a positive impact on every person who walks in and gets a feel of what we do.”

This isn’t the first time ‘Ride On Pizzaria’ has given meals to RNSH, they’re big supporters of their local health care workers: “our friends at RNSH really did appreciate the gesture of having pizza delivered which was donated on behalf of some of our beloved customers and us”. And it doesn’t stop there, Giovanni has more goals for the future of his community. “I would like to see more people on the street, enjoying what our area has to offer with the many bars, restaurants and cafes that need support”

Finally, we asked Giovanni what he is most grateful for in his own life, he told us that “I am grateful to my family who has always believed in me and my life projects.”

Imagine if we all cared about our community the way Giovanni does. Make the effort today to be an active and contributing member of your community, by helping out a neighbour or supporting a local business.

What are you grateful for? Say thank you the best way we know how, by sharing your story on sharegratitude.com
